  • Red Dwarf: Back to Earth (Blu-ray), Review

Gone for a decade, but definitely not forgotten, the Red Dwarf crew return.

After a decade away, is one of Britian’s premier sitcoms as strong as ever, or in this case, does time erode all things? Let’s go “Back to Earth” to find out. (And yes, I’m aware how terrible that line is.)

  • Escaflowne: The Movie (Blu-ray), Early Look/Review

Time for another early review.  This time we have the Escaflowne movie, now having over half a dozen American releases.

Having had over a dozen releases, and the Ultimate Edition from day one still being the preferred version, is Escaflowne on Blu-ray a great release?  Or should it go in the pile of disks that few want, next to Escaflowne on UMD and Bandai’s Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence Blu-ray.

Does this two disk package hold the Bleach name up high?  Or does Bleach The Movie 2: The DiamondDust Rebellion need a good bit of white out (ah, back to the bad jokes!) Let’s find out. (more…)

  • Wolverine: Weapon X #1 and #2 Review

Wolverine. Certainly one of the most popular and well-known comic heroes (or anti-heroes, I should probably say). Combined with the fact that he was the focus of a live-action movie that was released just a few weeks ago, it should come as a shock to no one that he has a new series related to his Weapon X days. But is it any good, or is it just a forgettable cash-in on the movie?

  • Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers #1 Review

Marvel Comics has begun a new miniseries that may just be one of the greatest ideas of all time: a series starring Lockjaw and other famous super animals from the Marvel universe. This includes Kitty Pryde’s Lockheed, Falcon’s Redwing, Speedball’s Niels (AKA “Hairball”), Aunt May’s Ms. Lion, and…a frog Thor? What?

  • Power Girl #1 Review

DC Comics has just launched a new Power Girl series, and going into this first issue, I only knew one thing about the character: boobs. While there certainly are plenty of those featured throughout the issue, the creative team does attempt to bring a little more to the table than that. But do they succeed?

  • Digimon: Data Squad- Collection One, Early Look/Review

Digimon in the USA has always had an odd history.  Never quite getting a real release for any of it’s seasons on DVD (minus a single DVD for the first season released nearly a decade ago that had over 10 episodes stuffed onto it and the first three films in their ‘edited into one film for the USA’ version on a different DVD) Well Go USA has teamed up with Toei USA to bring boxsets of the newest season to the USA.

  • Azrael: Death’s Dark Knight #1 Review

As part of the “Battle for the Cowl” event in their Batman-related books, DC has begun a few new miniseries to depict the on-goings of Batman’s friends and acquaintances in his absence. One of these new miniseries is Azrael: Death’s Dark Knight, and what’s it like? Well, without spoiling anything…

  • Dragonball Z: Broly Triple Feature (Blu-ray), Early Look/Review

Wow, we already have an American anime Blu-ray getting a double dip (well mostly anyways).  Here we are again with yet another Broly Blu-ray.  The original ‘prototype’ Blu-ray disk had quite a few problems.

  • Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (Bandai version), Early Look/Review

After lots of problems in 2008, with quite a few recalls, it’s time for one of Bandai’s big 2009 products, a new year, a new start, let’s see how Bandai does with their first Blu-ray, of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
