  • Battlestar Galactica (Classic) Episode 1 Review w/ Episode

Hey there. This is Rachel, a staff member with a wide variety of nerdy interests making my first post to the site, and in it what should be the first of many reviews from me…

As a fan of classic television, science fiction, and Lorne Greene, I probably should have sought out the original Battlestar Galactica much sooner than this. But I didn’t know much about it until recently, other than that the timing of the original broadcast made it seem like a mere attempt to cash in on the Star Wars craze. However, while there are at least a few visual similarities to Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica’s story and execution are quite different.

~Marc- Small note from your favorite editor, this will FBR’s first review with the full episode embedded in the review, if you wish to watch the episode BEFORE reading the review, scroll to the bottom.~

  • Goku and Piccolo Look Kinda Funny From the Back…

So apparently one of Bandai USA’s new DBZ toys is an electronic game where you connect a Goku and a Piccolo figure to electronic handles and press buttons to make them flail about and scream battle action phrases while battling them.

The issue with it is WHERE the connector points are…

    Yeah…

Well, if you too require weird asses on your toys, have at it (and feel free to make any obvious jokes in the comments).

Thanks to a forum goer on Daizex for the picture… I think.

  • Otakon Day 3 News Roundup

The big news from Day 3 of Otakon is ADV finally has new stuff to announce.

First up, for anime, they have the 3 episode Indian Summer (Koharu Biyori) OVA.

Then under a new subbrand called Switchblade Films they have a few live action films.  A new series of Kunoichi movies, Female Prisoner Epsilon, Attack Girl Swim Team Vs. the Undead, Cruel Restaurant, and Gluttonous 1 & 2.

  • Random Fun- August 10th, 2008

I really enjoy the Shin-Chan dub. I normally prefer dubs to be as close as reasonably possible (although as long as the subs are uncut I don’t mind some rewriting and such in the dub). Shin-Chan on DVD is technically an ‘edited’ release, but I just love it so much.

  • School Rumble Season 1 Boxset Early Review

Woo, first review, and a couple days before the set is officially out also.

School Rumble is a show I really enjoy.  The singles released between late 2007 through the middle of 2008 had quite a few flaws in regards to video though.  Funimation has changed a show released as six singles into a boxset with five disks, so let’s take a look at what’s changed, what’s better, what’s worse, and what is the same. • Otakon Day 2 News Roundup

Not much news for today either.

Bandai (unsurprisingly) has the .hack//G.U. Trilogy CGI movie.

Crunchyroll will be adding a number of series from ADV, Media Blasters, and Gonzo up in the following weeks and months.

Kadokawa has Garei Zero, based on the Garei manga.

and JAM Project showed up at the Bandai panel and gave out Lucky Star T-Shirts.

Tomorrow is the ADV panel, so let’s see what happens there.

  • The Professionals Am Being Greetest!?- Funimation’s Shuffle Trailer

Welcome to the first “The Professionals Am Being Greetest!?”

In this recurring feature/column, we will point out any ludicrously stupid mistakes/things that companies/professionals do in regards to all the fun stuff we enjoy watching and reading and so forth.

For the first one, we will show something regarding the American release of the anime Shuffle. (more…)
